Automotive Service Technology program is based on the Automotive Service Excellence Education Foundation (ASE) standards and prepares students to take four ASE certification exams and the G1-General Technician for Maintenance and Light Repair certification exam. The program also prepares students to take the Vehicle Emissions Testing exam. In the state-of-the-art equipped lab, students practice and demonstrate competencies such as diagnosing and repairing engines, brakes, suspensions and electronic systems as they study to become an automotive technician.
The Culinary Arts program is designed to provide a broad base of classical and contemporary cooking knowledge combined with hands-on experience, giving each student confidence in attained skills and preparing the student to move successfully into a career in food service and hospitality. The Culinary Arts program provides training in the safety and sanitation practices, culinary skills and knowledge necessary to become a culinary professional. Students receive hands-on experience in many aspects of the industry such as catering, short-order cooking, banquet, and fine dining. Instruction includes: practice of proper safety and sanitation; preparation of cold foods, fresh stocks, soups, sauces, meats, poultry, seafood, grains, fruits and vegetables according to classically prescribed techniques and methods; and proper use and understanding of formulas and recipes in the preparation of basic quick breads, yeast breads, cakes, pastries, and other baked goods.
As an Electrician Apprentice, you will install and maintain electrical systems. You will place wiring in buildings and repair electronic controls on equipment. Some of your responsibilities will be reading blueprints and placing electrical conduits inside walls, partitions, ceilings, and other areas. You will feed insulated wire through conduits and install various kinds of electrical equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, outlets, and switches. The Electrical Apprenticeship program provides a solid understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), its layout, the requirements for different electrical systems, and the components of those systems. The Welding Technology training program will provide you with entry-level job skills to work in a production environment as a welder. You will learn a variety of welding skill processes. In the Welding Technology certificate program, students receive hands-on safety, welding, and cutting instruction on a variety of metals. Instruction includes basic Oxy Fuel Cutting (OFC), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), and other thermal and mechanical cutting processes. Students also learn welding process-specific and welding shop safety practices, basic print reading, and the proper uses and applications of AWS welding symbols.

This program provides education and training in preparation for employment in Information Technology. A pharmacy technician assists the pharmacist in a retail or hospital setting to store, prepare, and dispense medicines. Responsibilities include inventory, ordering, labeling, storing, and distributing medicines, working with patient records, billing information, gathering information for the pharmacist, and the distribution of printed information to the patient. Students who complete the program and pass a national certification exam will be eligible to apply for a Utah pharmacy technician license.
Graphic designers create visual concepts, by hand or using computer software, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, or captivate consumers. They help to make an organization recognizable by selecting color, images, or logo designs that represent a particular idea or identity to be used in advertising and promotions. The Digital Design Program provides a strong foundation in the diverse fields of a graphic designer. Students learn theory and experience hands-on application in the production of electronically generated media for print, television, film, websites, and mobile computing. In the coursework, students design creative collateral for companies and/or clients. Course topics include graphic design, design principles, photography, image manipulation, illustration, desktop publishing, and motion design with skills in video production, animation, motion graphics, interactive design, small business marketing, and a final portfolio. Students will gain the skills necessary for entry-level employment in creative careers and learn industry practices, graphic design, illustration, photography, motion graphics & animation, and front-end web designs. Students work with the Adobe Creative Cloud software to develop literacy and production skills.

The Medical Coding and Billing program provides students with the technical skills and knowledge for an entry-level position in a health care setting through competency-based education.
All students in the Medical Coding and Billing program study medical terminology, anatomy, laws and ethics, standard medical billing and coding methods, medical coding software, and functions of the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Students develop administrative office skills, receive hands-on experience using a Medical EHR system to schedule, manage patient accounts, and enter patient documentation. The program prepares students to work as entry-level Medical Coder and/or Biller in a medical office, clinic, or hospital.
In addition, medical coding and billing specialists examine how to code diagnoses and procedures performed or identified by a physician. Students also explore how to process health insurance claims, examine coverage issues, and processes for billing and collections. Medical billing and coding specialists prepare to take the National Certified Professional Coding (CPC) examination through American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). There are other medical coding certification exams available including Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) offered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and the Certified Medical Coder (CMC) offered by the Practice Management Institute (PMI).

As a cosmetologist, you will be working in a beauty salon or barber shop performing customer services such as coloring, rolling and applying permanents, applying makeup, cutting, and styling. You will be required to earn and maintain a state license. The average completion time for the Cosmetology Program is 16 months. Students who complete the program will be qualified to take the Utah state licensing exam. A valid U.S. Social Security number and government-issued ID is required for licensure.

Special attention is given to hygiene, skin and scalp disorders, anatomy, sterilization and sanitation, and salon operation. Students who complete the program will be qualified to take the Utah state licensing exam. A valid U.S. Social Security number and government-issued ID is required for licensure.

As a valuable member of the healthcare team, certified nursing assistants (CNAs) work under the direction of a licensed nurse performing basic duties in a variety of settings including: long term care and assisted living facilities, hospitals, clinics, home health care and hospice. The OTECH Nursing Assistant program prepares students with the skills needed to obtain vital signs and assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, eating and toileting while focusing on safety, infection control and professionalism. Successful completion of the Nursing Assistant program qualifies the student to sit for the state certification exam.

Students will study basic and advanced phlebotomy practices, specialized testing collections, as well as proper laboratory sample collection, handling, and processing procedures. Upon completion students are eligible to take the National Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) exam.
As a plumber, you will install, repair and maintain plumbing systems and fixtures in residential, commercial, institutional or public buildings. You will get to cut, thread, assemble, weld, solder, and caulk water pipes and joints. You will read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks and waste and drainage systems. As a plumber, you will design, install, troubleshoot, and repair plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment, and controls. These piping systems may be used to transport water, gases, or hot liquids. Plumbers work in cooperation with other building professionals to ensure the project meets all specifications, code, and safety requirements to ensure efficient completion of any project.
