EKG Technician Training

This course will train students how to administer EKGs (electrocardiograms) and stress tests, prepare patients for monitoring, and deliver final test results to physicians for analysis. In some settings, a phlebotomist is also responsible for administering EKGs. Having a Phlebotomy certification is not required to take this course, but it is encouraged as having both certifications will enhance the potential for quality job placement. Upon course completion, and if the necessary requirements are met, students will be eligible to sit for the optional Certified EKG Technician (CET) exam through the NHA.

Pharmacy Tech Training

In this course students will learn how to receive prescriptions from patients and doctors, measure, package, and label prescriptions, establish and maintain patient records, process payments and insurance claims, and manage inventory. Basic Life Support (CPR)

This course is offered in person and completed entirely at our school in a classroom with an instructor. The American Heart Association's BLS for Healthcare Providers course provides the foundation for saving lives from cardiac arrest. Students will learn current best practices for CPR and use of an AED (automatic external defibrillator). The American Heart Association will email your BLS card to the email address with which you registered. Your email should arrive in 3 to 5 days.

CMA Update

This is a completely online course. Coursework must be completed by Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. (or Tuesday morning if a holiday falls on Monday). Certified Medication Aides in Kansas must update through 10 hours of continuing education every two years as required by KDADS. The student will learn updates on techniques, procedures, and/or new medications.

Social Services Designee / Activities Director

The Social Services Designee (SSD) and Activity Director are separate State certifications which we have combined into one course due to their short clock hour requirements and similar course material. A Social Service Designee will interview residents to ensure their physical, psychological, and social needs of the residents are being met within a facility, and implement personalized plans of care which are designed to improve or restore Activities of Daily Living. The Activity Director is responsible for creating an ongoing program of activities designed to meet the interests and the physical, mental, and psycho-social needs of each resident in accordance with the comprehensive assessment. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

This comprehensive, 10-month hybrid program program is designed for focused and disciplined adults. There are two to three days each week of in-house learning and 10 to 16 hours each week of online coursework completed at home. Critical judgment skills are taught through various hands-on training methods including case studies, virtual reality goggles, simulation labs, and other techniques. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to sit for the KSBN-approved examination. Passing this exam authorizes LPN's to practice intravenous therapy within the scope of practice as outlined by State of Kansas statutes. This course also provides 32 CEU hours for LPNs and 20 CEU hours for RNs. CEUs must be applied for through KSBN.

Phlebotomy Tech Training

Phlebotomy Technicians work in a variety of settings, such as labs and clinics. In this course, students will learn how to draw blood from patients and blood donors, explain procedures, perform basic point of care testing, and maintain medical equipment. Many employers require a professional certification. We are partnered with the National Healthcareer Association to host the NHA certification exam on-site. To assist students in getting the required amount of practice to qualify to take the NHA exam, students are encouraged to bring adult volunteers for practicing blood draws on scheduled stick days. All volunteers must be 18 years of age and sign a consent and release of liability form. Upon course completion, and if the necessary requirements are met, students will be eligible to sit for the optional Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) exam through the NHA.

DOT Specimen Collection Training

This course is only for drug analysis urine collection, not alcohol. As a Department of Transportation urine specimen collector you will instruct and assist donors at a collection site. DOT urine specimen collectors receive and make an initial inspection of the specimen provided by those donors, and initiate and complete the Federal Drug Testing Custody and Control Form (CCF). This qualification training is used in small doctor offices, hospitals, and collection sites. Group rates and on-site training is available! This is a single day, in-house course.
