Our Medical Assistant program is a comprehensive training course, designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. This program aims to develop versatile Medical Assistants who can handle a variety of tasks, both clinical and administrative, in a healthcare setting.

The program prepares students for several positions such as Clinical Medical Assistant, Administrative Medical Assistant, Medical Receptionist, and Laboratory Assistant. The program combines theory with hands-on training in a simulated medical office environment, providing an immersive learning experience for students. During their training, students will learn about various body systems and structures, principles of diagnostic imaging, correct procedures for collecting and reporting laboratory results, and more.
An essential part of our program is the externship that provides practical experience in a medical office or hospital setting, following successful completion of classroom training. This externship allows students to put their learning into practice and gain valuable industry experience.
Upon completion of the program, students are qualified to sit for the licensure exam in Texas.
Graduates can find employment as Medical Assistants, Back Office Assistants, Front Office Assistants, Phlebotomists, and EKG Techs in various healthcare settings.
Applicants must be high school graduates or have a GED, at least 17 years old, and pass the Entrance Assessment Test to qualify for admission.

Program Objective
The goal of the Phlebotomy Technician program at School for Allied Health Professionals (SFAHP) is to prepare competent, entry-level phlebotomy technicians in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains.

The Medical Insurance and Coding Specialist is trained to work with health- related information and the systems used to collect, process, store, retrieve, and communicate information for the support operations, management, and decision making in a medical facility or related industry. As computerization of information advances the Medical Insurance and Coding Specialist is vital to the processing of patient care data analysis. Students receive instructional and hands-on training in medical terminology, law and ethics, anatomy and physiology, insurance billing and coding, insurance claims and reports, medical office procedures, records management software, accounts receivable, posting accounts and Internet.
