Nursing Assistant Program at School For Allied Health Professionals

Admission Requirements

To enter our program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • High school graduation or high school equivalency (GED) certification
  • At least 17 years of age (applicants under the age of 18 require written permission from a parent or legal guardian)
  • A passing score of 12 on the Wonderlic Scholastic Level Exam

Program Objective

Our Nursing Assistant course delivers robust instruction in:

  • Basic nursing skills
  • Basic restorative services
  • Mental health and social service needs
  • Personal care skills
  • Resident's rights

This education equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to provide care for convalescing residents in long-term care facilities.

Classroom Procedures

Our approach to learning combines lecture, audio-visual presentations, demonstrations, reading materials, and written tests. In addition, students gain clinical practice in a lab setting.

Course Descriptions

The program includes a range of courses, covering topics such as long-term care, personal care skills, basic nursing skills, restorative services, mental health, social service needs, and social skills. The program culminates in an externship where students apply their learned skills in a practical setting.
