Program Objective

Our Medical Assistant program is a comprehensive training course, designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. This program aims to develop versatile Medical Assistants who can handle a variety of tasks, both clinical and administrative, in a healthcare setting.

Key areas of study include:

  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Medical diagnostic laboratory techniques
  • Venipuncture, injections, and urinalysis
  • Electrocardiography
  • Measurement of vital signs
  • Preparation for physical and specialty exams
  • Basic medical office administrative duties

Career Opportunities

The program prepares students for several positions such as Clinical Medical Assistant, Administrative Medical Assistant, Medical Receptionist, and Laboratory Assistant. It also provides students with the necessary training to handle a range of administrative and clinical duties, making them valuable assets in a rapidly evolving healthcare industry.

Classroom Procedures

The program combines theory with hands-on training in a simulated medical office environment, providing an immersive learning experience for students. During their training, students will learn about various body systems and structures, principles of diagnostic imaging, correct procedures for collecting and reporting laboratory results, and more.

Externship

An essential part of our program is the externship that provides practical experience in a medical office or hospital setting, following successful completion of classroom training. This externship allows students to put their learning into practice and gain valuable industry experience.

Licensure

Upon completion of the program, students are qualified to sit for the licensure exam in Texas.

Program Outcomes

Graduates can find employment as Medical Assistants, Back Office Assistants, Front Office Assistants, Phlebotomists, and EKG Techs in various healthcare settings.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must be high school graduates or have a GED, at least 17 years old, and pass the Entrance Assessment Test to qualify for admission.

Shown program lengths may include holidays. The Medical Assistant Program is 7 months(28 weeks) long.
