Program Objective

The goal of the Phlebotomy Technician program at School for Allied Health Professionals (SFAHP) is to prepare competent, entry-level phlebotomy technicians in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains.

Key areas of study include:

  • Introduction to Phlebotomy
  • Infection Control & Safety
  • Human Anatomy & Physiology
  • Order of Draw & Venipuncture
  • Capillary (Dermal) Puncture
  • Non-Blood Specimen collection

Career Opportunities

The program prepares students for several positions in various environments including but not limited to hospitals, medical and diagnostic laboratories, blood donor centers, and doctors’ offices

The program combines theory with hands-on training in a simulated medical office environment, providing an immersive learning experience for students.

Externship

An essential part of our program is the externship that provides practical experience in a medical office or hospital setting, following successful completion of classroom training. This externship allows students to put their learning into practice and gain valuable industry experience.

Licensure

Upon completion of the program, students are qualified to sit for the licensure exam in Texas.

Program Outcomes

Graduates can find employment as a Phlebotomist/Phlebotomy Technician

Admission Requirements

Applicants must be high school graduates or have a GED, at least 18 years old, and pass the Entrance Assessment Test to qualify for admission.

Shown program lengths may include holidays. The Phlebotomy Program is 7 weeks long.
