Home Health Aide Program, HHA

Home Health Aide Program: This (40) hour program, consisting of (20) hours of theory and (20) hours of clinical experience is required for a Home Health Aide certificate. The Home Health Aid program requires each student to have a current CNA License in order to take the HHA program. The course emphasizes on how to assist clients with their daily tasks, such as bathing or dressing, housekeeping, planning appointments, arranging transportation to doctors offices and other outings, shop for groceries and prepare meals to meet a client's dietary specifications. HHA will remain performing certified nurse assistant duties such as checking a client's pulse, temperature, respirations rate, changing bandages or dressings, give massages, care for skin. Enrollment Fee: To enroll in the program a non-refundable fee of $250.00 is due at time of enrollment into the program. If student chooses to cancel their enrollment, the fee will not be refunded (no exceptions). The remainder cost $825.00 covers all the following: Tuition, student workbook and course resources. Scrubs and Textbook not included- Providing Home Care 6th Ed may be purchased through school. There are no state licensing fees for this program. Clinical Locations: Turlock Clinical Skilled Nursing Facility will be used, all (20) clinical hours must be completed in person.

Restorative Nurse Assistant

The RNA (Restorative Nursing Assistant) program provides CNA's (Certified Nursing Assistants) the knowledge and skills to advance their career in long term care. This is a (16) hour two day course consisting of lecture and lab in the classroom is only an authorized course for Certified Nurse Assistant. The curriculum includes lecture and demonstration followed by a skill review for each student. The purpose of the course is to give CNA's comprehensive training in the rehabilitative process to become RNA's. The course describes the rehab team, detailed instruction on the various conditions which affect rehab residents, and the basic care and specialized handling procedures that facilitate resident recovery and maximize caregiver efficiency.

NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

The Neonatal Resuscitation Program® (NRP®) is based on the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care of Neonate. The NRP Course format requires learners to study the material from the Textbook of Neonatal Resuscitation, 8th Edition, and take an online examination before attending the NRP course. Learners attend an interactive course that includes little or no lecture about textbook contents, uses course time for skill stations and supervised practice, and uses of simulation and debriefing as an important part of the learning experience. Candidates must be health-care providers (medical, nursing, paramedical allied health professionals) whose daily occupations demand proficiency in neonatal delivery room resuscitation.

Medical Assistant (CCMA)

The Clinical Medical Assistant program is offered with a duration of 400 hours; plus an externship with minimum 80-hours to meet state requirements. This program provides education for individuals seeking a career in the medical field as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant. The mission of the Clinical Medial Assistant (CCMA) Program is to graduate highly qualified professional and compassionate Clinical Medical Assistants. This course of training is consistent with the standards of education from the Committee on Allied Health Professional as delineated in Section 1866.1 and proscribed from Section 1866.8 of Chapter 18 within Title 16 of the California Code of Regulations regarding Medical Assistants. Students will graduate based on completing the entire 480-hour program. The program is designated to prepare students for employment in the following occupations: physician offices, hospitals, outpatient clinics and other healthcare facilities. A Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) is a multi-skilled professional focused on clinical procedures in an ambulatory healthcare setting. Some duties include: checking patients in and out, assisting medical providers with exams and procedures, administering injections or medications, working with electronic health records, perform EKG, phlebotomy, and lab procedures, taking patient vital signs. This program also includes administrative procedures and general procedures in a medical office. This training will prepare students to take the national exam for the Certified Clinical Medial Assistant (CCMA) examination by NHA.

First Lady Permanente Education Center offers a 8-week Paramedic Preparation course, a total of 64-hours total. The pre-paramedic preparation course runs a total of eight (8) consecutive weeks a total of 16 days. Each week is scheduled 2 days per week from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m located at our Turlock campus. This course is only didactic/ labs and does not include clinical experience. This course is a preparation course for the paramedic program. The course is an interactive course, structured to prepare students for an intensive Paramedic Program. The class meets twice a week, 4 hours per session, for a total of 8-weeks. Students will be evaluated in the Didactic, Psychomotor and Affective Domains. The course reviews the fundamentals of Paramedic Programs in a fast paced intensive format that covers the following components: Anatomy/ Pathophysiology, Basic EKG/ Treatment Plans, Pharmacology and Medication Dosages, Medical Emergencies, Patient Assessment, Traumatic Emergencies, Trauma Assessment, Medical Terminology and Written Examinations.

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) by The American Heart Association ACLS is an advanced, Initial Provider course that takes about 12 to 14 hours to complete. The card that healthcare professionals receive after completion of the course qualifies them to perform a range of techniques that include post cardiac arrest care, airway management and pharmacology. The skills practice and skills testing are conducted in large group sessions in learning and testing stations with case based scenarios. The renewal courses take approximately six to eight hours. The well designed and structured courses are unlike many other similar ones and are ideal for healthcare professionals who handle emergency response, medicine and intensive care and critical patients. They are taught team dynamics and communication applicable to working with others in the field. They learn basic life support skills with use of AED and recognition and immediate management of cardiac arrest. Central Valley Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Classes (American Heart Association Course) Provided at our Turlock-CA, Merced-CA and Modesto-CA Locations Heartsaver® CPR/AED All Ages & Standard First Aid by The American Heart Association teaches critical skills that are necessary to manage emergencies related to cardiac arrest, choking and first aid until emergency medical services arrive. The video based course teaches various skills including immediate treatment of sprains, broken bones, bleeding and shock. Students are also taught AED use and CPR. The student is taught to handle first aid basics, medical, environmental and injury emergencies, adult, child and infant CPR and AED use. This is a course for students with very limited or no medical training. At the end of successful completion of the course that teaches Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and emergency Care and an optional test, the student is given a completion card. Intended Audience: This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid, CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) by The American Heart Association is a video based course taught by highly qualified instructors in a classroom using simulated pediatric emergencies. The students have to complete the PALS course and pass 1 and 2 Rescuer child and 1 and 2 Rescuer Infant, both with BLS with AED skills tests to get the course completion card, which is valid for two years. Phlebotomy Technician Program

The Phlebotomy Technician program is offered with a duration of (15) night classes, 4-hours per night in Turlock, a total of 58-hours; plus an externship with minimum 40-hours to meet state requirements. This program provides education for individuals seeking a career in the laboratory as a California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT I). The mission of the Phlebotomy Technician Program is to graduate highly qualified professional and compassionate Phlebotomy Technicians. The primary goal of the Phlebotomy Technician Program is to education students with didactic, laboratory, clinical experiences that encompass emerging and innovative technologies in the preparation for a health care career as a Phlebotomist Technician. The Phlebotomist duties: taking patient histories, preparing puncture sites, drawing blood by way of venipuncture, and preparing fluid samples for laboratory testing. This training meets the California Department of Public Health requirements for eligibility to take the Phlebotomy Technician Certification Examination.

The Title 22 for Public Safety Personnel is a 23-hour state mandated course for lifeguards, firefighters, police officers, ski patrol, and other safety personnel. This course is split up in two days and covers extensive education on advanced standard First Aid. Skill session provided throughout class to give students a better understanding of course material. Lecture and video is the style of the course with testing after each component. The Title 22 Course is only a seasonal course that we offer a few months before Summer, these classes fill up in advance and there is limited space. Attendees: lifeguards, firefighters, police officers, ski patrol, and other safety personnel. (Course is highly recommended for EMT students) Pre-requisites: Current American Red Cross Professional Card, or AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers (Must be current, expired cards not acceptable and you will be dropped from class) Certificate: American Red Cross Title 22, Valid for 2 years. Participant Book: Emergency Responder Title 22 Book, printed by American Red Cross 2010 ECC Edition. Course Purpose: The purpose of the American Red Cross FAPSP course is to provide the participant with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the first aid requirements for lifeguards, fire fighters, and peace officers as defined in Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations. The course content and activities will prepare participants to make appropriate decisions about the care to provide in an emergency. Attendance: Must attend both classes on-time and participate in each skill session and engage in discussion to pass successfully.
