In person Criminal Justice: Corrections certification Classes

The Michigan Department of Corrections gives hiring preference to candidates who have completed a degree program or occupational certificate in Corrections. However, any combination of five courses (15 credits) from the following list will meet the minimum educational requirements established by the Michigan Department of Corrections.

The courses listed are those currently offered by WSCC, which fall into at least one of the categories specified in the MDOC requirements. Students must attain at least a “C” (2.0) grade for a course to count toward the 15 credit requirement. Students are responsible for satisfying all prerequisite requirements.

Registered Nurses (RNs) work as respected health professionals who help people stay healthy or get healthy. RNs provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients, and provide advice and emotional support to patients and their families. RNs work in hospitals, private homes, nursing homes, schools, and correctional facilities and often lead a team of other healthcare providers. The Institute of Medicine is encouraging all RNs to obtain bachelor’s degrees by 2020 and WSCC has multiple articulation agreements with four‐year universities allowing for transferability of classes.
