This course provides an overview of basic cardiovascular terminology, anatomy and physiology. The course focuses on the proper placement of electrocardiogram (EKG) leads and maintenance of equipment to obtain an accurate 12-Lead EKG. Students learn to recognize cardiac dysrhythmias. The course also outlines responsibilities of ECG/EKG Technicians and provides clinical laboratory opportunity to develop entry-level skills. After successful completion of the 8 week course (56 Hours), each student will receive a certificate of completion from PMTC and will be provided with the appropriate application and test schedule to take the national certification exam given by the National Health Career Association, given at PMTC once a month.

The course is taught to provide and prepare students for the state exam required to obtain certification from the state of South Carolina. This course provides the student with the skills that are important while assisting the pharmacist in the preparation and dispensing of medications. Students will be trained on how to interpret prescription hard copies, pharmacy calculations, processing a prescription, pharmacy laws, compounding and packaging of medications. We will also provide you with the information on how to become a registered technician. Upon successfully completing 105 hours you will receive a certificate of completion from PMTC. We will provide you with the application to take the national certification (PTCB) exam.

This program curriculum provides each student with the opportunity to achieve the knowledge and skills required by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) to be eligible for certification. Upon successful completion of the theory requirements, students will receive a certificate of completion from PMTC and will be assisted with the scheduling of the certification exam. This is an 18 week course.

Hybrid Central Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST)

This hybrid course is a combination of virtual learning with a live instructor and in person lab days. There will be 2 lab days scheduled at the end of the course at a PMTC campus. This program is designed to prepare students for employment as Central Sterile Processing Technicians. Also referred to as, Certified Registered Central Service Technicians (CRCST). Instruction will focus on work in a sterile processing department and central service location, working as a team to maintain sterilization and storage, learning microbiology and infection control and apply principles and practices of sterile processing and decontamination. Upon completion, students will be able to take the certification exam for sterile processing technicians, offered by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA). CRCST certification requires that you pass the certification exam and complete 400 hours of hands-on experience in a CS department. These hours can be completed before testing or within 6 months of passing the exam.
