1. Demand for CNAs is at an all-time high‍

Jobs in the healthcare industry have been rising exponentially due to the growing aging population. This means, working as a CNA promises job stability for the foreseeable future vs other professions. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 192,800 job vacancies are expected in CNA over the next decade.

The experiences you’ll gain from being a CNA serves as building blocks to a fulfilling career in healthcare. Most healthcare providers start as a CNA and go on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or a Registered Nurse (RN). Others pursue a career in administrative work as Director of Nursing for nursing homes, geriatric care, or as nurse educator or professor. Read from our blog: what comes after CNA?

3. Free training‍

To meet the tremendous demand for CNAs, many employers offer tuition reimbursement or even pay for your training. Yes, you read that right. Most training programs will require you to have a high school diploma or GED to get started. Some even only require an 8th grade equivalency test. 5. Robots aren’t coming for your job‍

In addition to job security due to high demand and growth in the field, you can rest assured that robots aren’t going to replace you. A robot may drive a car or move boxes around in a warehouse but they lack a quality critical for a successful CNA--compassion. Becoming a successful CNA requires compassion, empathy, and attentiveness that only one human can offer to another.

6. You can choose to work in different environments‍

If you hate being chained to your desk for 40 hours a week staring at a computer screen then becoming a CNA is your answer. You can get ample human interaction and choose a variety of work environments. Here are just some of the organizations that hire CNAs: senior care facilities, hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, travel staffing agencies, and government facilities. Here is more information comparing the different kinds of facilities.

7. You can take great pride in your work‍

The facilities we mentioned in the previous point all focus on helping people in time of need. Whether you're helping an elderly person at a senior care facility, assisting a registered nurse at a hospital or taking care of a veteran at a government facility, you are making a difference at a critical point in someone’s life. You can take great pride in that and go home everyday knowing that the work you do is essential.
