The Medical Assistant certification course offered by the UAF Community and Technical College's Downtown Center in Alaska is an intensive program teaching students the basics of medical care while providing additional lab and hands-on experience. The curriculum includes topics such as anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and patient care. Upon successful completion of the program, students are awarded a certificate as a Medical Assistant, qualifying them to work in hospitals, physician offices and other medical facilities.

The Occupational Endorsement in Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) is designed to prepare you to provide basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. The program includes both   EMT-Basic and Advanced EMT coursework that will prepare you for both national and State of Alaska basic and advanced EMT certification.

Upon completion of the program you will learn how to function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight and develop the knowledge and skills required to provide patient care and transportation using the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance.

The program can be used as a stepping stone to the paramedicine associate degree for students interested in continuing to advance their knowledge through additional education.

The Certified Nursing Assistant certification program at UAF Community and Technical College (downtown center) is a comprehensive program that prepares students to become certified nursing assistants. The program includes both classroom instruction and hands-on clinical experience, giving students the opportunity to develop the skills needed to provide quality patient care. Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the Alaska State Certification exam to become licensed as a certified nursing assistant.
