PCAs work in a homecare environment assisting individuals with daily activities such as using the bathroom, preparing and eating meals, executing good hygiene and grooming habits, taking medication, bathing and completing housework or other chores.

Basic Life support (BLS) is the foundation for saving lives after cardiac arrest and is a crucial skill set for healthcare professionals, including nurses, doctors, and emergency medical technicians. This four-hour course teaches both single-rescuer and team basic support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, focusing on high-quality CPR and team dynamics. Upon completion of this four-hour certification course, you will receive your Healthcare Provider certification e-card, valid for two years, by email within 20 days. This certification is a national certification.

This course prepares you to take the State of Connecticut CNA Exam and you’ll become eligible for the Connecticut State Nurse Aide Registry.

Upon successful completion of this course, you'll receive a certificate of completion and your name will be placed on the State Certified Nurse Aide Registry. This is a CT state certification. If you plan on moving you can still take this program but need to go through the Prometric site to transfer your license to a different state.

Tunxis Community College is accredited by the Associate Degree Board of Commissioners of the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). The Asnuntuck, Capital, Gateway, Housatonic, Manchester, Middlesex, Naugatuck Valley, Northwestern, Norwalk, Quinebaug Valley, and Three Rivers campuses are working towards accreditation for July 2023. When the merger is complete, all 12 campuses will be accredited.
