Our Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 program is tailored for individuals aspiring to work in clinical laboratories, public health departments, clinics, or hospitals. This comprehensive program integrates 40 hours of classroom instruction, 8 hours of lab work, and a 40-hour off-site clinical internship to provide students with a well-rounded learning experience.

• Anatomy and Medical Terminology: Explore circulatory system anatomy and relevant medical terminology.
• Specimen Collection: Learn the intricacies of specimen collection, including risk factors, complications, and quality assurance.
• Hands-on Training: Practical instruction involves hands-on training in venipuncture techniques, with procedures verified through a skills check-off system.
• Externship Experience: The 40-hour externship is a crucial component, encompassing a minimum of 50 successful venipunctures and 10 skin punctures.

Certification Requirement in California

In California, state certification is mandatory for practicing as a phlebotomist. Upon successful completion of the program, students receive a certificate of completion and become eligible to take the state certification examination. This examination qualifies individuals as Certified Phlebotomist Technicians at level 1.
