In person Medical Administrative Assistant certification Classes

This course will prepare students to perform routine administrative duties in the medical offices and clinics. Students will be instructed on proper telephone procedures, how to greet patients, update and file patient medical records, fill out insurance forms and handle correspondence. Other topics will include scheduling appointments and arranging hospital admissions and laboratory services. Various office equipment will be covered. This course will cover an extensive list of common terminology used in the typical medical office. After successful completion of the course (56 hours), each student will receive a certificate of completion from PMTC and will be provided with a test schedule to take the certification exam given by the National Health Career Association (NHA). This course is 8 weeks.

In person Sterile Compounding & IV Aseptic certification Classes

This program is designed to prepare students for employment as Central Sterile Processing Technicians. Also referred to as, Certified Registered Central Service Technicians (CRCST). Instruction will focus on work in a sterile processing department and central service location, working as a team to maintain sterilization and storage, learning microbiology and infection control and apply principles and practices of sterile processing and decontamination. Upon completion, students will be able to take the certification exam for sterile processing technicians, offered by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA). CRCST certification requires that you pass the certification exam and complete 400 hours of hands-on experience in a CS department. These hours can be completed before testing or within 6 months of passing the exam.

This course provides phlebotomy instruction to the student with a working knowledge of collecting blood and other specimens with emphasis on patient safety, quality assurance and universal and standard precautions. This course utilizes a lecture, clinical laboratory, and demonstrated methodology and prepares students for the National Health Career Association (NHA) certification exam, which is given at PMTC once a month. After the successful completion of this 12-week course, (84 Classroom/Lab Hours, 30 Venipunctures, 10 Capillary Sticks), students will receive a certificate of completion from PMTC, needed to take the national certification exam given by the  NHA.

In person Pharmacy Technician certification Classes

This course provides the student with the skills that are important while assisting the pharmacist in the preparation and dispensing of medications. Students will be trained on how to interpret prescription hard copies, pharmacy calculations, processing a prescription, pharmacy laws, compounding and packaging of medications. We will also provide you with the information on how to become a registered technician. Upon successfully completing 105 hours you will receive a certificate of completion from PMTC. We will provide you with the application to take the national certification (PTCB) exam.

This course prepares students to code patients’ medical records correctly and optimize reimbursement for a full range of medical services. Students are introduced to several techniques for finding and applying the correct codes in today’s standard coding systems. Topics covered include: current procedural terminology, international classification of diseases, clinical modification, and health care procedure coding system, resource-based relative valve scale, and insurance form preparation for Medicare, Medicaid, Tri-care, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and Workers Compensation. No fault, HMO’s diagnosis-related groups, preer review organizations, and ambulatory patient groups are also covered. This program curriculum provides each student with the opportunity to achieve the knowledge and skills required by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) to be eligible for certification. Upon successful completion of the theory requirements, students will receive a certificate of completion from PMTC and will be assisted with the scheduling of the certification exam. This is an 18 week course.

The course focuses on the proper placement of electrocardiogram (EKG) leads and maintenance of equipment to obtain an accurate 12-Lead EKG. Students learn to recognize cardiac dysrhythmias. The course also outlines responsibilities of ECG/EKG Technicians and provides clinical laboratory opportunity to develop entry-level skills. After successful completion of the 8 week course (56 Hours), each student will receive a certificate of completion from PMTC and will be provided with the appropriate application and test schedule to take the national certification exam given by the National Health Career Association, given at PMTC once a month.

Clinical Medical Assistant

This program is designed to teach students the skills necessary for employment as a CMA in a medical facility, such as hospitals, clinics, or doctor’s offices. A qualified CMA is capable of performing a wide range of duties, thus assisting the physician in many ways. Clinical duties include: asepsis and infection control, taking patient histories and vital signs, performing CPR and First Aid, preparing patients for procedures, assisting the physician with examinations and treatments, collecting specimens and administering and explaining medications, as directed by the physician. This is a 6 month program. Upon completion of the program, the student will be eligible for National Certification through the National Health Career Association (NHA).
