PhlebotomyU’s Phlebotomy Advanced Course designed for individuals with a minimum of 1040 hours (equivalent to 6 months, full time) of on-the-job phlebotomy specific experience in the last 5 years. Note, the CDPH requires individuals to take a phlebotomy course from a CDPH approved school which we are.
We offer phlebotomy classes to fit your schedule including weekday, evening and weekend phlebotomy training classes to help you obtain your Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT I) certificate. Our training programs for the phlebotomy certification is fast paced and comprehensive with small class sizes typically between 10 and 16 students. Successful completion of phlebotomy class will get you nationally certified and make you eligible to apply for a state license with the California Department of Public Health – Division of Laboratory Field Services.
This course is designed for students with at 40 – 1040 hours of on-the-job phlebotomy experience* and are seeking to obtain a CPT I license. It includes the 20 hours of Basic Phlebotomy Didactic and 20 hours of Advanced Phlebotomy Didactic required by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and is offered during the week and on weekends. Students will also need to pass the National Exam for Phlebotomy Technicians in order to be eligible to apply for a CPTI license. Students who have not yet taken the National Exam exam can sign up via PhlebotomyU.

PhlebotomyU offers students many options when it comes to planning your courses so that you can take time to attend class in a flexible way that meets your personal needs. These options range from weekday courses, weekend-only courses, and evening-only courses. Additionally, we offer courses that focus on your qualifying experience so that you only take the amount of coursework that is applicable to you.
The blood withdrawal course offered by PhlebotomyU consists of two components: Didactic and Practical. The Didactic portion provides an overview of phlebotomy fundamentals, while the Practical portion offers hands-on experience with blood collecting devices and demonstrations of safe handling and proper venipuncture techniques. This course is intended for medical research personnel who will be drawing blood for non-diagnostic purposes.
PhlebotomyU offers the following courses: Phlebotomy Full Course (CPT I), Abbreviated Phlebotomy Courses & Blood Withdrawal. Obtain a national and California state phlebotomy certification with our Phlebotomy Full Course. Simply submit your official or unofficial high school or GED transcript or equivalent and enroll in our San Diego phlebotomy program. Our phlebotomy classes begin every month and come in different schedule formats including: 4 weeks, Monday-Friday Morning classes; 10 weeks, Saturday & Sunday Weekend phlebotomy classes; 5 weeks, Monday-Friday Evening classes. Course completion time can vary. Each class consists of 40 hours of didactic phlebotomy training and 40-60 hours of hands on practical training. Our course also includes the national phlebotomy exam and an additional 40-120 hour clinical phlebotomy externship at one of our affiliated hospitals or clinics.
The Phlebotomy certification program at PhlebotomyU is a comprehensive training program that prepares students to become certified phlebotomy technicians.
