This course is a comprehensive investigation of the heart rhythm disturbances that occur within the chambers and conducting tissue of the heart. The class is partitioned into three modules that allow the systematic review of arrhythmias that occur in the atria, AV junction and ventricles of the heart. The material is designed to maximize understanding by analyzing electrocardiogram rhythm strips to reinforce application of the theoretical component of the course. This course also uses the application of these theories through laboratory experiences allowing hands on experience with electrode placement and 12 lead ECG interpretations. This is a 116 hour course with 16 hours of lab that includes lead placement and strip identification and monitoring. 100 hours are theory and content.

A phlebotomy technician is professionally trained to draw blood in hospitals, nursing homes, medical and diagnostic laboratories, blood donor centers, and doctor’s offices. Students enrolled in this program will learn how to properly collect and prepare blood and non-blood samples from adults, infants, and children for medical and clinical testing. These tests are used to verify the overall health of an individual and to diagnose medical conditions. This program consists of 72 hours of classroom and clinical instruction: 48 hours of training will be online classroom theory instruction; 24 hours of training will be hands-on instruction in the skills lab. After completing the program, students will be awarded a certificate of completion and will be eligible to sit for the national certification exam.

After students successfully complete the CNA, Phlebotomy, EKG, and CPR courses, they will be eligible for the Patient Care Technician certificate.  Students who complete all courses for PCT at PAL CNA Training Academy will be offered a discounted price after all courses are completed. Students who have completed courses for PCT at other schools will be able to bring proof of certificates from accredited programs to apply it toward their PCT certificate.  No discount will be offered to students who have completed part of the courses at other facilities. To obtain the PCT certificate, students must complete the CNA, Phlebotomy, EKG and CPR courses.  Students who receive this certificate will be eligible to take the national certification exam for PCT.
