A phlebotomy technician is professionally trained to draw blood in hospitals, nursing homes, medical and diagnostic laboratories, blood donor centers, and doctor’s offices. Students enrolled in this program will learn how to properly collect and prepare blood and non-blood samples from adults, infants, and children for medical and clinical testing. These tests are used to verify the overall health of an individual and to diagnose medical conditions. This program consists of 72 hours of classroom and clinical instruction: 48 hours of training will be online classroom theory instruction; 24 hours of training will be hands-on instruction in the skills lab. After completing the program, students will be awarded a certificate of completion and will be eligible to sit for the national certification exam.
