Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to define the role of the Surgical Technologist and other surgical team members. They will understand the principle of aseptic technique, define the processes of antisepsis, disinfection and sterilization. Identify needs of the surgical patient (physical and psychosocial). Apply the principles of surgical conscience and understand basic knowledge of preoperative care of the surgical patient. Understand the principles of anesthesia.
As a Massage Therapist you will be trained in the principles of massage. The student will be trained in anatomy and physiology, as well as pathology that will be considered when planning a massage session, kinesiology, massage business and ethics, fundamentals of massage, and massage practice and techniques. The students will be trained using verbal, written, visual and hands-on instruction throughout the classroom and clinic. The students will have hands-on demonstrations and supervised practice to advance their knowledge and techniques to allow them to succeed in their new careers.
The student will be trained in anatomy & physiology with medical terminology incorporated, general college mathematics, lifespan development, communications, ultrasound physics, and imaging specialties such as OB/GYN, abdominal, breast, echo, and vascular sonography. As a Sonographer, the student will train to be able to provide patient services in a variety of medical settings using medical ultrasound under the supervision of a physician. The student will be trained to perform ultrasound studies as ordered by physicians for their patients. The student will be trained to perform appropriate procedures and record anatomical, pathological, and physiological data and other pertinent observations made during the procedures. After completing the didactic or campus portion of their program, the student will attend an externship for a total of 945 hours (three semesters). This will allow the student to apply the principles obtained during the sonography program. After the completion of the physics course, the student will be eligible to take the Sonography Principles & Instrumentation (SPI) examination through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. When all requirements are met and the student has officially graduated from the program, they will qualify to take the RDMS, RDCS, or RVT registries. Students should complete the program in 7 semesters for day class schedules, or 10 semesters for the night class schedules.
The Emergency Medical Technician - Advanced course prepares the student to provide more in-depth assessment and care for patients of all ages with a variety of medical conditions and traumatic injuries. Areas of study include a fundamental concept, advanced airway management, advanced pharmacology with medication administration including initiation of intravenous and intraosseous access.
Graduates of this course will be prepared to assist in surgical procedures in a medical facility by learning through a combination of classroom and hands-on laboratory. Students will learn to prepare the operating room for surgery, sterilize equipment, maintain adequate surgical inventory, prepare patients for surgery, and assist surgeons during surgery.
Upon completion of the Medical Assistant Program, students will have the ability and knowledge to work directly with patients and assist with their care. Our program will provide students with relevant skills and knowledge in assisting the physician with minor surgical procedures, performing patient assessments, and recording EKGs. Students will also receive training in general office procedures, such as, scheduling appointments, accounting procedures, and maintaining patient charts. After completing the didactic portion the program, students will attend an externship for a total of 80 hours. Students will be prepared to take the national certification examination for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Healthcare Association. Students may also qualify for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) and the Certified EKG Technician (CET) examinations when they complete all requirements.
The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer certification program at North Georgia Nursing Academy provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary to operate ultrasound equipment and conduct diagnostic sonographic exams. The program consists of comprehensive coursework in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and patient care, as well as extensive hands-on clinical training. Graduates of this program are prepared to sit for the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification exam and pursue careers in hospitals, clinics, and other medical facilities.
