In person Pharmacy Technician Classes
The pharmacy technician program is designed to prepare students for pharmacy inventory, assisting the pharmacist, helping customers, and in some cases, compounding medications. This program is designed to also provide students with theoretical knowledge, hands-on skills and professional attributes required to entry level positions as pharmacy technicians.
In person Medical Assistant Classes
Program of Study- This program prepares individuals, under the supervision of physicians, to provide medical office administrative services and perform clinical duties including patient intake and care, routine diagnostic and recording procedures, pre-examination and examination assistance, and the administration of medications and first aid. At the completion of this certificate, students are eligible to sit for the MedCA Medical Assistant certification exam.
In person Phlebotomy Classes
Phlebotomy-This a 4-week program -48 hours of lecture and lab and 40 hours of lab/clinical. In person Medical Billing and Coding Classes
The Medical Billing and Coding curriculum will prepare students to perform a wide range of billing and coding tasks. The program will teach students how to:
Understand anatomy, physiology and medical terms. Understand law and ethics as they relate to the job of a medical biller and coder. Understand medical billing systems. Post, submit and appeal claims. Perform medical data entry. Effectively use medical software and manage electronic health records. Track payments and reimbursements. Apply coding to medical diagnoses and treatments. Communication appropriately with providers and insurance companies. At the completion of this certificate, students are eligible to sit for the MedCA Medical Billing & Coding certification exam
In person Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) Classes
EKG Curriculum Purpose: Prepare students for real-world performance as EKG technicians.
- Understand the anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system
- Describe the anatomy of the heart
- Identify the major structures of the vascular system
- Identify phases of the cardiac cycle
- Define the functional properties of cardiac muscle
- Describe the differences between normal and abnormal heart sounds
- Obtain basic patient vital signs
- Initiate CPR and first aid when necessary
- Explain the purpose of EKG monitoring
- Describe how EKG wave forms are produced
- Know the cardiac areas represented by the EKG leads
- Determine heart rate and rhythm
- Know how to set and adjust the EKG monitor settings to various patient situations
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of various EKG lead systems
- Demonstrate how to record an EKG
- Perform 30 live EKGs
- Record and verify leads
- Maintain and ensure proper functioning of EKG equipment

- Apply electrodes for EKG monitoring

- Assist patients before, during and after procedures
In person Certified Nursing Assistant Classes
The Certified Nursing Assistant certification class offered by Mississippi School of Health Services & Careers (MS School of Health) provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to become a successful CNA. The class is comprehensive and covers topics such as patient care, medical terminology, and communication. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive their CNA certification, allowing them to pursue a career in nursing and healthcare.
