Program Overview:
The Esthetics diploma program aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue entry-level positions as licensed Estheticians in the state of West Virginia. Estheticians play vital roles in various settings such as spas, salons, resorts, dermatologists' offices, and cosmetic surgery clinics. Students will delve into skincare and makeup, covering topics like anatomy, physiology, infection control, product knowledge, chemistry, and nutrition. The curriculum includes specialized facials, facial massage techniques, high-frequency treatments, professional makeup application, and hair removal methods. Graduates will be prepared to offer a range of services including skin analysis, facial treatments, and makeup application.
Credential Awarded:
Upon completion, graduates receive a diploma and are eligible to sit for the West Virginia State Board of Barbers and Cosmetologist exam. Licensure is mandatory in West Virginia for practicing estheticians.
Program Advisory Committee:
Laurel has established a Program Advisory Committee to ensure that the curriculum remains aligned with current job market trends and employer needs. Any program changes are made with the approval of the Pennsylvania State Board of Private Licensed Schools and the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools & Colleges.
