Program Overview:
The Associate’s Degree in Nursing program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) and enter the nursing profession as competent entry-level practitioners. With a growing demand for skilled nurses, the program aims to prepare students to meet the needs of various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, home healthcare, and military service. Students will learn the fundamentals of nursing, focusing on providing compassionate care to patients. The curriculum emphasizes verbal and non-verbal communication, critical thinking, and proficiency in planning safe and effective patient care while maintaining legal, ethical, and professional standards.
Credential Awarded:
Upon completion of the program, graduates will earn an occupational Associate Degree in Nursing.
Licensure Available:
Graduates are eligible to apply for the NCLEX-RN examination required for RN licensure. Each state has specific requirements for licensure applicants. Professional licensure requirements in West Virginia include adherence to state nursing laws and regulations.
Accreditation:
Laurel College of Technology is in the process of seeking accreditation through the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), a crucial step toward formal accreditation review.
Program Advisory Committee:
Laurel has established a Program Advisory Committee to ensure that the curriculum remains aligned with current job market trends and employer needs. Any program changes are made with the approval of the Pennsylvania State Board of Private Licensed Schools and the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools & Colleges.
