HPI’s six-week program will prepare you for a career in the fast-growing field of ECG Technician. An Electrocardiogram (ECG) Technician, also known as a Cardiographic technician or EKG/ECG technician, is vital in today’s healthcare industry. As an ECG technician, you are responsible for performing diagnostic tests related to patients’ heart rhythm and the electrical activity of a heartbeat. You will work directly with patients in a variety of circumstances. Duties as an ECG technician include: Attaching electrodes to patient's chest, arms, and legs, Performing electrocardiograms, Explaining procedures to patients, Monitoring patients' blood pressure, Positioning patients. ECG technicians must have strong analytical skills to interpret test results and a compassionate demeanor with patients who view electrocardiograms as stressful procedures.
