The Associate in Science (A.S.) in Business Administration is a versatile degree program that provides you with comprehensive management and financial knowledge and skills to pursue your desired career path.

Graduates of the A.S. in Business Administration program are prepared to begin a business career immediately or continue on to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supervision and Management or Financial Services for increased employment options and advancement opportunities.

Four technical certificates are available within this degree program: Business Entrepreneurship (6257) (T.C.), Business Specialist (6253) (T.C.), Business Operations (6250) (T.C.), and Business Management (6251) (T.C.). 

The Associate in Science (A.S.) in Health Information Technology degree improves the health care delivery system through educating and training students to become knowledgeable about the management of health information systems. Health care is the largest industry in the U.S. and there is enormous demand for skilled health information technology professionals to design, operate and maintain the technology that makes the health care system run. There's a high demand for health information technologist jobs including clinical coders, health information technicians, data analysts, patient information coordinators and health record technicians. In addition to ensuring that health records are accurate and complete, registered health information technologists must maintain all health records according to federal, state and local laws.

Students will gain technical knowledge of health systems, data entry and retrieval, and a strong technology background, with regulatory knowledge to equip students to modify and recommend medical record technology solutions. This program is available online.

The Culinary Arts Technical Certificate (T.C.) program is designed to provide career-oriented students with basic culinary arts, food service management principles and training for supervisory and management positions in the food service industry and hospitality industry through management and culinary classes. The program provides students with a foundation for building a rewarding career in one of the largest and fastest growing industries in Florida.

Culinary college coursework includes an emphasis on communication, management, human relations and leadership skills. Through the culinary internship program, catering students gain college credit and valuable, profitable work experience.

Do you want to know how to become a paralegal? The Advanced Technical Certificate (A.T.C.) is exclusively for the student who has earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and is now seeking a career change or certification. The paralegal classes identified in this paralegal certification meet the educational requirements for the Certified Paralegal (CP) examination administered nationwide by National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA). The A.T.C. in Paralegal Studies program at FSCJ has been approved by the American Bar Association (ABA) since the program’s creation in Fall 2015. 

Employment opportunities may include private law firms, courthouses, governmental or administrative agencies, nonprofit organizations, corporations and other legal environments with titles such as legal assistant, legal clerk, law clerk and paralegals. The program may provide a solid foundation for those considering law school in the future as well.

This program cannot be completed entirely online.  Due to American Bar Association (ABA) requirements, students must complete a minimum number of credit hours through traditional classroom instruction. Transfer of legal specialty courses from other institutions may be limited by the program's ABA approval.

The Data Science Technician Technical Certificate (T.C.) is designed to give students greater education and training in complex data and statistical programming. Additionally, the program allows students to develop knowledge in data visualization, creation and utilization of big data.

Students may earn this certificate and the FinTech Technician T.C. to develop or upgrade their skills while pursuing the Data Science Technology Associate in Science (A.S.) degree.

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Technical Certificate (T.C.) is a limited access program that prepares graduates to function as entry-level Emergency Medical Technicians. The program utilizes classroom instruction, hands-on skills labs and field experiences to train students to become emergency medical responders who respond to a variety of medical and trauma situations. Upon completion of the program, graduates are awarded a technical certificate and are eligible to apply to sit for the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) certification exam to qualify for certification as a Florida EMT. Graduates of the technical certificate program may elect to continue for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) (2251) (A.S.) degree.  

Emergency medical services (EMS) systems consist of many different components. EMT is the entry level for work in the EMS field as they provide basic life support and transportation for the sick and injured.

Our Medical Assisting Career Certificate (C.C.) will prepare you to do everything as a medical assistant from maintaining medical records, filing insurance claims and billing to taking medical histories, vital signs and assisting with exams. You’ll gain practical experience for a medical assisting job in local hospitals, doctor’s offices and clinics. In addition, you qualify to take the Registered Medical Assistant examination to become a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).

The Practical Nursing Career Certificate (C.C.) Program consists of classroom lectures, laboratory and clinical education components.  You’ll learn basic nursing and clinical skills as well as medical terminology, computer literacy and medical medication administration. Upon completion, graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure examination (NCLEX) and become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). From hospitals to physicians’ offices to nursing homes and home care, an LPN is an entry point into a nursing career path.

After earning your LPN license, and completion of general education requirements for the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program, Practical Nursing graduates who have worked as an LPN for at least 6 months are allowed to apply for the RN Bridge Program at FSCJ, and ultimately completing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from FSCJ. The mission of the Cosmetology Career Certificate (C.C.) program is to provide excellent and meaningful education to all cosmetology students. The Cosmetology program has cosmetology instructors who believe in a team approach that is flexible and understanding of the individual needs which enables each student to reach their full potential and the achievement of success. A theoretical and practical hands-on approach is given to all aspects of cosmetology including, but not limited to, hair design, chemical relaxing, permanent waving, hair coloring, skin care and nail care. This will not only prepare the cosmetology student for the state licensure examination but will also prepare them for successful entry into the workforce.

The Associate in Science (A.S.) in Nursing program is a combination of general education and professional courses including lecture, laboratory and clinical education components. Graduates of the program are prepared to function as entry-level practitioners and are qualified to take the National Council for Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) to become licensed as registered nurses (RN). Clinical rotations scheduled in area hospitals and other medical centers are part of the program, so students will graduate with experience as well as theoretical knowledge.

The Dental Assisting Career Certificate (C.C.) program provides students with dental assisting classes that cover the theoretical, practical and clinical skills necessary to receive an entry-level position in a dental office. Dental assisting training includes dental basic sciences, dental radiographic techniques, dental materials, sterilization and infection control, chair side assisting, office management, dental specialties and expanded functions. 

The Dental Assisting program has been approved by the Florida Board of Dentistry to prepare students for certification in expanded functions and dental radiology.

The Correctional Officer Career Certificate (C.C.) provides students criminal justice training**** and education to prepare them to manage inmates and perform operational duties in the areas of care, custody and control within the correctional institution. Through the Criminal Justice Training Center, students learn everything needed to become a corrections officer, from inmate intake, the use of firearms and defensive maneuvers, to constitutional law, communication equipment and crisis intervention.
