PHTLS COURSES: The following PHTLS courses are offered to address the needs of providers and instructors: Provider Course: 16-hour course for EMTs, paramedics, nurses, physician assistants, physicians and other prehospital providers. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a certificate of completion, a wallet card recognizing them as PHTLS providers for 4 years, and 16 hours of CAPCE credit. This course may be offered as a classroom course, or a hybrid course where students take 8 hours of the course online followed by 8 hours in the classroom. PHTLS Initial Course: This is a 2 day initial hybrid course. There are 8 hours online and then 8 hours in a hands-on classroom setting. Practical is offered on 2 separate days. Firefighter schedule friendly. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a certificate of completion, a wallet card recognizing them as a PHTLS providers for 4 years, and 16 hours of CAPCE credit. PHTLS Renewal Course: This is an 8 hour renewal course for EMTs, Paramedics, Nurses, Physician Assistants, Physicians and other Prehospital providers. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a certificate of completion, a wallet card recognizing them as a PHTLS providers for 4 years, and 8 hours of CAPCE credit. This course is offered as a classroom course (1 Day Classroom). Classes are subject to change.
This 30-hour “blended” course contains home study, classroom didactic information, skills labs and competency evaluation. Participants will receive a preparation packet and pre-tests to complete prior to the classroom segments. The classroom sections will review the mandatory information required by the board of nursing. The skills labs will allow the participants to practice choosing and preparing fluids, locating veins, preparing IV sites and inserting catheters. Students will also review recognizing complications, as well as evaluating and dressing various types of access devices. Florida requires clinical competence verification by the employing institution following this course. This is accomplished by documentation from a licensed RN in the workplace.
EEI offers innovative EMT Refresher in one of the largest, most student friendly, premier training facilities in South Florida. Our program makes it easier for all to obtain their EMT refreshers hours. EEI’s EMT Refresher, are State of Florida approved. Here is how it works: When you register you will receive a link to your email. Which you will then click on link and follow log in instructions. It’s all online for your convenience. Please allow up to 24 hours to receive your email/link. EMT’s have the skills acknowledgement form that must be signed by a Training Officer, Medical Director, or Paramedic Instructor. This course provides 28 hours plus 2 hours in pediatrics. HIV Update is NO longer required. The NREMT transition portions are now added and available in the material for EMT. EEI looks forward in assisting you with your Refresher hours and wish you best in your continued career. If you are concerned if your State accepts this Refresher please call your Bureau of EMS. It is State of Florida approved.
Offered in person and online as a CAPCE Approved F5 Traditional Refresher Course, this 40/24 Hour NREMT Refresher course for the EMT is Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education (CAPCE) approved and follows the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) National Standard Curriculum for Emergency Medical Technician Refresher. Students are trained according to the standards outlined in the course profile link above. Students who successfully pass the course, will be presented with a certificate outlining the applicable topic areas.
The EMT Fast Track Program is an intensive one month long course consists of a total of 130-200 hours depending on location which may include classroom instruction, skills testing, practical examination assistance, and clinical/externship rotations. Depending upon student performance, the practical examination assistance may be waived at the program director’s discretion due to the program’s increase in content hours. This course shall meet and/or exceed the United States Department of Transportation, National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, Emergency Medical Technician National Standard Curriculum guidelines and 2009, the National EMS Education Standards as well as meet Arizona Department of Health Services, Bureau of EMS, California EMS Authority, or Texas State Department of Health Services education standards, depending on location.
Emergency Medical Training Professionals Medical Administrative Assistant program enables students to gain National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification. We will prepare you for entry-level positions as medical administrative assistants in a variety of health care settings. Graduates of our program receive the necessary training in: * Review and answer practice correspondence * Operate computer systems or other types of technology to accomplish office tasks * Answer calls, schedule appointments, greet patients, and maintain files * Update and maintain patient and other practice-specific information * Coordinate collection and preparation of operating reports such as time and attendance.
This 40 Hour EMS Instructional Strategies course is designed for the entry level EMS Instructor prior to formal instruction in an Emergency Medical Services educational program. This course is based on the 2002 National Guidelines For Educating EMS Instructors, which is a consortium of guidelines from the National Association of EMS Educators, the U.S. Department of Transportation, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Successful completion of this course shall entitle the student to EMS Instructor certification. Prerequisites: Must be a currently certified or licensed EMS Professional (Qualifications will be verified upon course completion). Length of Course: 40 Hours Course Location: The EMS Instructional Strategies course is offered online and includes interactive assignments such as presentations and uploading of various course documents to demonstrate proficiency. The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, or NREMT, is a non-profit organization that helps ensure the skills, knowledge, and expertise of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) in the United States. This course will cover the usage and management of health information and the electronic health record (EHR). Students will be introduced to the use of health information and the EHR for any setting within the health care industry from acute, ambulatory, long term, home health, specialty, population, health, and personal health that encompass the continuum of care. Students will come away with a practical understanding of what an EHR specialist is and how important they are in the job market.
The Heartsaver courses are designed for the public. Heartsaver courses are designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for job, regulatory (for example, OSHA), or other requirements. These courses can also be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting.
Online CE on this Page is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education (CAPCE). The cost of online CE is dependent on the course. Upon completion of the course, you will be issued a certificate from EMS University, LLC, good for CE credit through the NREMT. Additionally CAPCE is accepted for CE hours in MOST states. This Basic Life Support (BLS) course is designed for the Healthcare Professional and follows current International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). The student will be issued a certificate upon completion of the course.

EKG technicians are trained to perform electrocardiograms or EKGs on patients. An EKG is a test that monitors the heart’s activity and detects certain heart conditions. The technician will apply leads to a patient’s body and then perform the non-invasive test. EKG technicians can also perform stress tests where a patient walks on a treadmill and the heart’s activity is recorded. EKG technicians are generally employed in hospitals, but others find employment in physicians’ offices and facilities that perform diagnostic testing alongside doctors, nurses, and other diagnostic technicians. The majority of EKG technicians work full time in the occupation. Others choose this certification to go alongside their current medical certification or degree for a more diverse resume. The completely redesigned American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support course gives healthcare professionals the knowledge and skills to better recognize and treat critically ill infants and children. The course is designed for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of an infant or child, whether in or out of the hospital. The goal of the PALS course is to aid the pediatric healthcare provider in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes. Skills taught include recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest; the systematic approach to pediatric assessment; effective respiratory management; defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion; intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration; and effective resuscitation team dynamics. The course uses a scenario-based, team approach to teach pediatric emergency management of pediatric patients approaching or already in respiratory or cardiac arrest. The course covers treatment beyond the first few emergency minutes and goes through stabilizing patients or transport phases of a pediatric emergency, in or out of the hospital. During this online course, the student reviews video-based lessons, simulation, and participate in 12 core cases. Once the student completes the online component, they must come to campus and complete skills practice and skills testing with an instructor.

The Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) is a two-day in-depth study of medical emergencies. This course emphasizes a pragmatic approach and format, based on teaching providers what they need to know. The curriculum is designed to allow for a minimal amount of lecture and an ample amount of actual hands-on physical assessment of patients. Therefore, students must purchase a copy of the AMLS textbook, published by Brady/Prentice Hall, in advance of the course in order to adequately prepare for it. Because medicine is always evolving, periodic revisions and updates will be required as the scientific and medical fields uncover new advanced and techniques. The applied AMLS course gives each provider/student the ability to integrate the knowledge presented into a practical format for use in his or her current practice. This course is directed at the pre-hospital treatment of medical emergencies, but can be altered to encompass the initial emergency department assessment and management of the medical patient. The format and administrative policies set forth are those of the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT). The major goals of the AMLS course are to: * Apply critical thinking skills to integrate pathophysiology with the assessment findings of a medical patient; * Determine and differentiate between actual and potential patient problems; * Advance the provider’s ability to conduct a competent medical examination that utilizes proper diagnostic skills, critical thinking, and interventions; * Advance the provider’s ability to utilize problem-solving strategies in interventions and management alternatives; * Advance the provider’s ability to communicate the pertinent findings and interventions to the receiving facility.
The class covers the following: * Determination of Death * Discontinuance of Resuscitative Efforts * Duties and role of the coroner and state medical examiner * Preservation of evidence at the scene of a death In accordance with KRS 311A.185, any Paramedic Course taught after July 15, 1998, shall include this instruction. Any paramedic from another jurisdiction desiring to become a paramedic in Kentucky shall show evidence of successful completion of this training course in Kentucky.
The Associates of Science Degree in Emergency Medical Services prepares individuals who are seeking career advancement and increased employment opportunities in the field of Emergency Medical Services. This 16 Hour, Tactical Emergency Combat Care (TECC) class meets National Standards Guidelines for instruction on how to respond to respond and care for people during civilian and tactical rescue operations and is adopted from the Committee on Tactical Emergency Combat Care (C-TECC) Guidelines. This course is recommended for Civilian First Care Providers, ALS/BLS Responders, Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) as well as other interested members of the community. Additionally, this course counts towards National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) continuing education hours to recertify as an EMT and is approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education (CAPCE).

If you need ACLS, that can be arranged through us as well. Your ACLS is the skill/class times are combined, providing 28 hours plus 2 hours in Pediatrics. For 30 hours total. Which is the New amount of hours required by the state of Florida. Starting in June 2018. NO skill check-off sheet is required.
