This program is designed for individuals interested in pursuing a career as an Emergency Medical Technician. It prepares students for entry level positions with ambulance and Emergency Medical Services (EMS). As many EMS services are a component of fire departments, it is also important for those pursuing a career as a firefighter. Students who successfully complete this program are eligible to take the National Registry of EMT examination. Successful completion of this examination is necessary for State of Ohio EMT certification.

Submission of a Health Career Program Application is not required for this program. A student pursuing the Medical Billing Specialist Certificate must be eligible to enter into English 1010 and Math 1000-level. A Tri-C Academic Counselor can approve registration into the Medical Billing Specialist course sequence once these eligibility requirements have been met. Consult with an Academic Counselor to determine if these required placement levels have been met or if additional coursework is necessary.
Upon completion of all courses in the Medical Billing Specialist program sequence, a student should complete a Petition for Degree/Certificate form and submit it to the Tri-C Enrollment Center.
The Medical Billing Specialist Certificate is a short-term program established to prepare students for employment in physicians' offices, medical insurance companies and outpatient billing services.
