The Emergency Medical Technician – Basic Course is designed to teach individuals the basics of the Emergency Medical Services profession. Once accepted, the student will learn; the foundations of being an EMT, anatomy and physiology, roles/responsibilities, medical and trauma responses, patient assessments, airway management, proper lifting techniques, documentation, communication, and post-transport debriefing. This course meets the Washington State Department of Health requirements for EMT certification. The course duration is approximately 3 months. Graduates of this program will be eligible to take the National Registry EMT certification examination.
