Students in the Teacher Education Transfer program begin training to become teachers and have opportunities to explore the diverse world of education and ways to work effectively within it. This curriculum is designed for students who are interested in transferring to an Elementary Education program at a four-year college and who may not be eligible to complete the requirements of the A.A.T. degree. While this curriculum is designed to prepare students to pursue a bachelor’s degree program at the college or university level, students are advised to check the requirements of the institution to which they intend to transfer. Candidates for graduation in this program must pay for and take the ETS National Teacher Examination: PRAXIS I test before graduation. Upon completion of this program, students may apply for State License to work as a Paraprofessional in Local State Educational Agencies. Paraprofessionals and Teacher Assistants perform duties that are instructional in nature or deliver direct services to students or parents. Those who go on to earn advanced degrees become classroom teachers. Candidates for graduation in this program must pay for and take the: PRAXIS I test before graduation. PRAXIS is offered several times during the year. Students should see their academic advisors or the program head for more information.
