The Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts (AALA) is a 60-credit-hour general education transfer degree that requires courses in English/writing, the humanities and fine arts, history and the social sciences, mathematics, and the natural sciences. The AALA is designed for students who wish to take the first two years of a baccalaureate program before transferring to a four-year institution and guarantees that the general education core is satisfied at Arkansas four-year institutions. All electives must be chosen from the state-mandated directed electives list (see pages 96-98 of the catalog). Students who prefer a broader range of elective opportunities should choose the Associate of Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences.
