Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

What is Diagnostic Medical Sonography?

Diagnostic Medical Sonography, also known as Ultrasound, is a medical imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to create visual representations of structures within the body. Sonographers use specialized equipment to capture these images, which are then interpreted by physicians to diagnose and monitor various medical conditions.

These programs typically take 2-4 years to complete and result in an associate's or bachelor's degree. The curriculum includes coursework in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and the principles of ultrasound technology, as well as hands-on clinical training.

What's the Fastest Someone Can Become a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in Greenville?

In Greenville, the fastest path to becoming a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is through a 2-year associate's degree program. These programs are offered at several local colleges and technical schools, and they provide the necessary didactic and clinical training to prepare students for the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification exam.
