As the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) trade is growing, and College of Western Idaho's (CWI) HVAC Apprenticeship program is your key to starting a rewarding career in a field increasingly in need of trained and licensed technicians, installers, and trouble shooters.

This four-year program will take your skills from the basics to being prepared to take the journeyman test to become a licensed HVAC technician. HVAC Apprenticeship classes are available in a hyflex format offering in-person and virtual class options with 576 hours of classroom training and 8,000 hours of on-the job experience.

Learn from industry experts in the classroom in concert with employment in the HVAC field for on-the-job training while earning a living. The need for qualified heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) technicians is never going away. Collin College can teach you what it takes to work in the residential HVAC industry installing and servicing gas and electric furnaces and heat pump systems.

You will learn how to work safely and responsibly within Environmental Protection Agency guidelines and standards that apply to the HVAC industry, and identify and use HVAC equipment, components and tools, while understanding their functions within the industry. You will also learn common mechanical, electrical and electronic components such as compressors, switches, thermostats, motors and fans. You will even be able to practice all of the techniques you learn with heat pumps, heating units, a/c units, refrigeration units and more with hands-on instruction in Collin College facilities.
