Anyone can take the online BLS-HCP course followed by a manikin skills test at Cabrillo College. Come prepared to demonstrate skills. Thirty minutes of practice time with skill sheets and manikins is provided prior to testing.

Basic Life support (BLS) is the foundation for saving lives after cardiac arrest and is a crucial skill set for healthcare professionals, including nurses, doctors, and emergency medical technicians. This four-hour course teaches both single-rescuer and team basic support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, focusing on high-quality CPR and team dynamics. Upon completion of this four-hour certification course, you will receive your Healthcare Provider certification e-card, valid for two years, by email within 20 days. This certification is a national certification.

Basic Life Support is commonly referred to as CPR.  This is a 4- hour class for health care professionals or the standard layperson looking to learn the skills of lifesaving CPR.  Anyone is eligible to take this course and the certification is issued from the American Heart Association and will remain valid for two years.

Our Basic Life Support (BLS) courses are taught by emergency medical professionals.  BLS participants will learn the skills necessary to deliver both individual and dynamic team-based AED use, basic airway managment, CPR, and relief of choking in an active an engaging way.

BLS stands for Basic Life Support and includes techniques used to save a victim in the case of an emergency. In this course, we will discuss and teach the steps that you should take to give a dying victim the greatest chance of survival. These techniques include Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training.

This online BLS course is free. You have the option to purchase your BLS Certification after completing the online lessons. You will receive a printable certificate and signed wallet card mailed directly to you. The certification is optional and you do not have to pay anything to take the online class.
