VCMC’s Medical Billing and Coding curriculum provides our students the basic knowledge and skills that will qualify them to become an entry-level Medical Biller & Coder, performing the front office medical duties as a clerk working in clinics/hospitals/medical groups.

The program will also provide VCMC students with the ability to be a Health Claim Examiner working with the insurance companies. Students will be exposed to billing forms, eligibility guidelines for CHAMPVA, TRICARE, Medicare, Medicaid/Medi-Cal, and Workmans’ Compensation and Disability.

Valley College of Medical Careers’ Medical Assistant Training Program, is designed to teach students, medical front office and back office duties, computer applications, office procedures, business communication skills, job readiness techniques, and the personal development skills essential for a successful medical career.

Upon successful completion of the medical assistant training program, the graduate will be able to perform EKG’s, prepare strips for evaluation, perform venipunctures, collect specimens, collect patient data, perform vital signs, CPR, and First Aid, perform simple lab tests (Urinalysis, Hematocrit), prepare patients for physical examinations, and assist physicians in minor surgeries. Anatomy & Physiology along with Medical Terminology will be emphasized.

In person Pharmacy Technician Classes

The Pharmacy Technician program at Valley College of Medical Careers will teach students pharmacy operations and procedures, computer applications, job readiness techniques, personal development and basic pharmacology skills.

Upon successful completion of the training, the VCMC Pharmacy Technician graduate will be able to identify and understand drug nomenclature, dosage forms, routes of administration, and abbreviations used in pharmacy, identify the most common medications by their trade and generic names, perform conversions and/or calculations of weights and measures, understand California pharmacy law, understand basic pharmacology, perform pharmacy operations of the Drug Distribution system and sterile product preparation.
