The Pharmacy Technician program prepares students to work directly under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist to perform various duties. Students will learn to receive prescriptions, obtain necessary information, process prescriptions using patient profiles found on a computer database, select and package correct medication from inventory, prepare intravenous medications using sterile techniques, and maintain professional work ethics. These skills are obtained through a combination of classroom learning and hands-on training in a pharmacy setting. Graduates of the program are prepared to take the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam and obtain a Pharmacy Technician License in the State of Utah. Licensed Pharmacy Technicians are in high demand and can work in a variety of settings.
