Trumbull Career & Technical Center - Adult Training Center
Students in the HVAC-R program design, test, diagnose, repair, and install heating and air conditioning systems. They fabricate and install duct systems and learn the fundamental concepts of electricity and refrigeration. In HVAC-R, students learn basic concepts and theories of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration. They read plans and blueprints and they learn electrical skills, sheet metal skills, computer diagnostic fundamentals as applied to HVAC-R, and problem solving skills.
Students in the Dental Assisting program prepare patients, instrument trays, and materials for exams to assist the dentist during procedures. They also learn medical/dental terminology, anatomy and physiology, office procedures, and dental radiography. Students in the program will also learn how to take impressions and X-rays. Students in the program learn dental radiology procedures, medical/dental terminology, dental materials, dental procedures, basic oral hygiene, CPR and medical emergencies, and head and neck anatomy. Students prepare for dental assistant and radiography certifications, immediate employment, and further education.
Pharmacy Tech program gain knowledge from instruction in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, infection control, medical math, data collection, basic pharmacology, and hands-on basic nursing skills. They obtain skills in prescription processing, pharmacy compounding, aseptic technique, billing, legal aspects, and assisting a licensed Pharmacist. In the program students learn pre-nursing skills like patient care, and brand and generic medications. They learn pharmacy tech skills such as prescription transcription, pharmacy record keeping, and utilization of pharmacy software. The program partners with PioneerRx Pharmacy Software, the top program chosen by independent pharmacists. The software is equipped with powerful tools that prepare students to graduate with a robust set of skills.
Phlebotomy program gain knowledge from instruction in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, infection control, medical math, data collection, phlebotomy skills, and hands-on basic nursing skills. They obtain skills in the process of patient identification, patient preparation, gathering lab specimens, and analyzing results to prepare for phlebotomy certification. In the program students learn pre-nursing skills like patient care, and brand and generic medications. They learn phlebotomy tech skills such as safety and compliance regulations, venipuncture equipment, venipuncture and capillary collection, special laboratory collections, specimen handling, transport and processing, and professional issues with phlebotomy.
