The Training Center - Parris Island
The Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, situated on Parris Island, South Carolina, is a renowned recruit training facility pivotal in shaping the future of the United States Marine Corps. Spanning over 8,000 acres, including sprawling salt marshes and tidal streams, it is not just a training ground but a transformative locale where approximately 19,000 recruits annually embark on a rigorous 13-week journey to become Marines. This program is steeped in the core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment and incorporates physical and mental challenges, marksmanship, basic combat skills, and the rich traditions of the Marine Corps.
The depot's extensive grounds offer specialized facilities, such as a 41,000-square-foot all-weather training space, used for both training and ceremonial events. Notably, Parris Island serves as the primary training site for recruits from east of the Mississippi River and hosts the Eastern Recruiting Region headquarters. The Parris Island Museum within the depot enriches the experience by showcasing the island's history and the storied traditions of the Marine Corps, making it a unique and demanding training environment.
