Students will also learn the necessary medical terminology, classifying data, health services and information systems, along with other topics relevant to the field. We teach our student with medical coding reference books, and a step by step curriculum.

Upon completion of the program, students will be eligible to sit for the MedCA certification exam.

In person Patient Care Technician Classes

Students will learn about the settings, work outline and responsibilities of a patient care technician; the Patient’s Bill of Rights, infection control and first aid; vital signs; supportive, elderly, palliative and hospice care; medical terminology; medical conditions as they relate to the body systems; phlebotomy and EKG (See phlebotomy and EKG program descriptions above).

Students will master the following skill sets: following infection control and safety guidelines; performing an accurate assessment of vital signs; applying dressings, turning, positioning and transferring patients; learning the correct use for  restraints, assisting with dressing and ambulation, identifying, handling and disposing of infectious and hazardous waste; performing phlebotomy, EKG, urinalysis, glucose and hematocrit and hemoglobin testing. Upon completion of the program, students will be eligible to sit for the MedCA certification exam.

In person Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) Classes

Students will learn about the duties, responsibilities and work environment of an EKG technician as well as interpretations. Students will learn about the anatomy and physiology of the human heart, and the anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system. Students will also learn about common medical conditions concerning the heart and the cardiovascular system as a whole.

Students will master the following skill sets: preparing the patient for EKG, applying and removing leads, performing live EKGs, entering patient data, and documenting completion. Upon completion of the program, students will be able to sit for the MedCA national certification exam.
