About

The Medical Billing Administrative Specialist certificate program is a 50.5-quarter credit, four quarter program that focuses on the administrative skills needed to assist hospitals, clinics, and physicians with billing and entry-level healthcare office administrative functions. This program is taught 100% online. Students learn basic medical and hospital office administration skills including reception, patient scheduling, and medical records management, including electronic medical records along with the specialized skills and knowledge needed for employment as a patient billing specialist and introductory coursework in medical insurance, revenue cycle management, and diagnostic and procedural coding. Students also learn to follow ethical and legal standards with respect to patient care including HIPAA privacy standards.  They are eligible to sit for the Certified Professional Biller (CPB) examination from the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC) at the end of the third quarter or thereafter.
