Program Overview:

South University's Associate of Science in Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program prepares qualified students to pursue careers as occupational therapy assistants. OTAs play a crucial role in helping individuals across the lifespan to perform meaningful daily activities and promote health and well-being.

Program Outcomes:

Upon completion of the Associate of Science in Occupational Therapy Assistant program, students will:

  1. Appreciate Diversity: Demonstrate appreciation for and adaptation to diverse cultures, settings, systems, and ideas in occupational therapy practice.
  2. Evidence-Based Practice: Access relevant literature and information, utilizing research-based evidence to make informed decisions in occupational therapy practice.
  3. Advocacy: Advocate for the profession of occupational therapy to various stakeholders, including professionals, service providers, consumers, and regulatory bodies.
  4. Competency: Deliver occupational therapy assistant services with entry-level competency under the supervision of an occupational therapist in diverse practice settings.

Accreditation:

The Occupational Therapy Assistant program at South University campuses in Richmond, Virginia Beach, and Tampa is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
