The Medical Office Administration certificate program provides students with an overview of health care operations, health care office applications, medical office and patient management, medical insurance and reimbursement, diagnostic and procedural coding, and medical law and ethics.
In the Ross Dental Assistant school program, students will be instructed on clinical as well as administrative skills relevant to the dental office. Training program instructors with experience in the field provide instruction to students on many necessary skills including radiograph processing, preparing and disposing of anesthetic, taking and recording vital signs, and taking impressions. Additionally, training program students are presented with important terminology and basic administrative tasks such as preparing a new patient chart, filing medical records, scheduling appointments, and completing insurance claim forms. Once students successfully complete the school program, they should be prepared to seek entry-level positions as dental assistants or receptionists, insurance clerks, supply salespeople, and/or administrative assistants.
In the Ross Nursing Assistant training program, students will be instructed on clinical skills relevant to their scope of practice in a variety of healthcare settings. Program instructors with experience in the field provide training and instruction to students on many necessary skills including but not limited to: residents' rights, recognizing abuse and explaining how to deal with abuse and neglect, demonstrating good body mechanics and lifting techniques, describing sterilizing and disinfecting which will include hygiene care of the resident, bed making, feeding, foot and nail care, oral hygiene, hair care, the measuring of intake and output, proper application of bandages, dressings, vital signs, measuring temperatures.
Graduates placed in the position of Certified Nurse Aide will be required to pass the Michigan Nurse Aide Certification Examination. Students should contact Campus Administration for details on registering for the exam.
During the Ross Pharmacy Technician training program, our school's students will be instructed on how to function as an assistant to a licensed pharmacist including the standards of pharmacy ethics and law, microbiology, pharmaceutical and medical terminology, dosages, and both trade and generic names of drugs. Experienced training school instructors will also direct students in performing essential functions related to drug procurement and inventory control, manufacturing and packaging operations, compounding procedures, and much more. Upon successful completion of the training program, students should be prepared to work in entry-level positions in a community, retail, and/or hospital/health system's pharmacy.
Practical nursing education enables the student to acquire principles and knowledge from the biological and behavioral sciences as well as the science of nursing. This knowledge forms the basis for utilizing the nursing process in the field of practical nursing. Concurrent integration of theory into clinical practice is an important aspect of practical nursing education. Practical nursing education prepares the graduate to pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for practical nursing. Practical nursing diploma program graduates prepared to seek entry-level positions as members of a health care team in hospitals, long-term care facilities, home health, and a variety of other health care areas.
