The primary role of a Pharmacy Technician is to dispense and prepare medications. The role has been expanding in recent years to incorporate many more practices, such as aseptic preparation of medication, compounding, performing dosage calculations, and much more. This is all done in a variety of pharmaceutical settings, which include but are not limited to: community pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, mail order operations, long-term care, managed care, and home care settings.
