Putnam Career and Technical Center
The HVAC program introduces students to the knowledge base and technical skills of the HVAC industry including certified curriculum taught throughout eight courses.
AM courses are offered to first year students HVAC 1 – HVAC IV, which is nationally certified curriculum adopted by the WV Department of Education through NCCER (National Center for Construction of Education Research). PM course are mainly offered to second year students as elective courses. This includes basic control circuits, heating system, commercial air condition and air conditioning applications.
Certified Medical Assistants work in physicians’ offices, clinics, or other healthcare facilities. They are responsible for performing physician support services that help ensure medical facilities run smoothly.
Medical Assistant’s duties may include verifying patient information, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit. They prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests, taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature and reporting patient history. Certified Medical Assistants may work in clerical, administrative, or clinical capacity.
The Dental Assisting program prepares students to practice and perform many skills such as chairside assisting, infection control procedures, radiology, and administrative duties in the dental office.
Dental Assistants are those who support the Dentists and Dental Hygienists. Their daily tasks can vary and include both administrative work and patient support. Dental Assistants take a patient's medical history, explain procedures, and assist Dentists during procedures. As an assistant, you can also expect to be responsible for preparing treatment rooms, including sterilizing dental equipment and tools, preforming digital imaging and taking impressions. Dental Assistants will also have the opportunity to gain certification to perform fluoride applications, dental sealants, and coronal polishing.
Practical Nursing Education is designed to focus on a holistic approach to learning, progressing from simple to complex. This education builds on previous levels of knowledge and experience.
Practical nursing education is goal-directed and purposeful and includes the development of cognitive skills including critical thinking and analysis. Practical nursing education prepares entry level nurses to provide competent care for clients with commonly occurring health problems having predictable outcomes.
