OSHA requires this course for workers on hazardous waste sites. The course includes classroom learning and realistic hands-on activities. Workers practice remediation and decontamination activities while wearing the proper respirator and protective clothing. Upon successful completion of this course, each worker receives a "40-Hour Card" (plastic card) that certifies the worker to do hazardous waste work for 12 months, at which time OSHA requires the worker to take a Refresher Course.
Hazardous Waste Worker and Radiological Training classes are conducted at the NCTAT Rancho Murieta Training Center and throughout the Western United States. These training classes may be conducted at public facilities, labor unions and at employer places of business via mobile training units.
