Northampton Community College’s Medical Assistant Specialized Diploma is offered at the Pocono and Fowler campuses in Pennsylvania. It prepares students for administrative and clinical work in medical offices, including patient history taking, vital-sign measurement, patient-record documentation, medication administration, phlebotomy, and electrocardiograms. The diploma prepares graduates to take the Registered Medical Assistant certification exam through American Medical Technologists. Full-time students complete the program in one calendar year, including a final externship, while part-time study is also available on a flexible schedule. Instruction combines classrooms and laboratories with a physician-practice externship in a doctor’s office, clinic, or hospital setting. Students must attend one of the mandatory Medical Assistant Program Orientations before registering for MDAS 101 and MDAS 102.
