8 Hour Pre-Assignment (Online)
The first required course is an Eight Hour Pre-Assignment Training course. This is a general introductory course. Upon successful completion of this course the guard is issued a training certificate. This certificate must accompany the security guard's registration application when submitted to the Department of State. Once the application is submitted, the guard has 90 days to complete the second training course, which is the 16 hour On The Job Training Course. We will assist you with the New York State guard application and scheduling of your Electronic Fingerprint appointment.

8 Hour Annual In-Service (Online)
Eight Hour Annual In-service course. This training must be completed each calendar year following completion of the 16 Hour OJT course. This program is designed to meet current training needs and refresh or update guards in changes in the security field. The guard must complete this course as a prerequisite for renewal of his or her guard registration.
8 Hour Pre-Assignment & 16 Hour On the Job Training (Online)
8 Hour Pre-Assignment & 16 Hour On the Job Training packaged together. This package will allow students to schedule and take both the 8 Hour Pre-Assignment and the 16 Hour on the job training courses at a discounted price. These courses together will allow individuals to get their license, and fulfill the required courses to continue employment once hired.
16 Hour On the Job Training (Online)
This is a 16 hour course that must be completed within 90 days of employment as a security guard. The course provides the student with detailed information on the duties and responsibilities a security guard. Topics covered in this course include the role of the security guard, legal powers and limitations, emergency situations, communications and public relations, access control, ethics and conduct, incident command system, and terrorism. The passing of an examination is required for successful completion of this course.
Online Security Guard Classes
The Security Guard certification program at New York Career Training & Advancement is designed to provide individuals with the necessary knowledge and skills to become a licensed and certified security guard in New York State. The program covers topics such as emergency response, crowd control, legal and ethical considerations, and surveillance techniques. Upon completion of the program, individuals will be prepared to take the New York State Security Guard exam and begin their career in the security industry.
