Phlebotomy program will prepare graduates to work as an entry-level Phlebotomy Technician in a clinic, hospital, nursing home or long-term care facility. Graduates will be able to assist in basic laboratory procedures, collecting blood and other clinical tasks. Phlebotomy technicians are healthcare professionals responsible for obtaining patient specimens. They can perform various functions such as venipuncture, micro-collection, and specimen processing and handling while maintaining patient safety and confidentiality. This course is designed to meet the National Health Career Association (NHA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), and New York State Education Department curriculum requirements. The course will prepare graduates for NHA Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Professional Certification. The course includes both theory and clinical training. The course curriculum is approved by New York State Education Department, by Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET) and by National Health Career Association (NHA). This course is offered to participants as continuing education or professional development in order to enhance existing employment in the medical field and/or enhance their responsibilities at their current employer.
