Liberty’s online B.S. in Computational Mathematics – Computer Science is designed to help students understand the algorithms, equations, and mathematical models that govern computers and other technologies. This degree is ideal for students who want to use their math skills to solve real-world problems in a variety of industries, including science, engineering, or business. Through this program, students can develop the problem-solving and analytical skills needed to pursue a career in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) as well as develop effective software and hardware. Students in the computer science track of the B.S. in Computational Mathematics will take courses in programming, data structures, and information security. They will gain a solid foundation in theoretical concepts, then apply that knowledge to practical studies in software engineering, C++ application development, and algorithm design. The core major courses cover subjects like abstract algebraic structures, probability, discrete mathematics, matrix and linear algebra, analytic geometry, and applied differential equations. With training in these areas, students can prepare to address challenges in the field of computer science. Upon graduation, students may pursue roles as computer network architects, computer systems analysts, data analysts, mathematicians, researchers, software developers, statisticians, and web developers.
