Liberty's online Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Physics Education 6-12 is a teaching licensure-track that gives students the specialized knowledge they need to teach physics topics at the middle and high school levels. This degree's content is designed to meet state licensure requirements for teaching middle grades and high school physics in Virginia, allowing students to apply for reciprocity in other states. This program also meets standards set by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) through the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). Students in the B.Ed. in Physics Education 6-12 will build on a foundation of education practice applied to the teaching of grade-appropriate physics concepts. Through this program, students will gain a broad and in-depth understanding of topics in Physics and science such as electricity, magnetism, and thermodynamics. Students will also gain hands-on experience in a classroom in their communities through a combined 390 hours of practicum and student teaching. With these skills, students will be prepared to pursue roles as licensed middle or high school physics teachers, private school physics teachers, STEM curriculum coordinators, and science literacy program directors.
