Program Overview:

Laurel’s LPN/Paramedic to ADN Transition program is tailored for Licensed Practical Nurses and Paramedics seeking to advance their careers by becoming Registered Nurses. The curriculum prepares students to take the (NCLEX-RN) and enter the nursing profession as entry-level practitioners. This program equips students with the fundamental nursing skills required to provide compassionate care to clients across various healthcare settings. Students learn to apply nursing science, demonstrate effective communication skills, develop critical thinking abilities, and plan safe and efficient patient care while adhering to legal, ethical, and professional standards. Clinical duties include taking vital signs, medical histories, patient preparation, blood draws, and medication administration under physician supervision.

Credential Awarded:

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates earn an occupational Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Licensure Available:

Graduates are eligible to apply for the NCLEX-RN examination, required for RN licensure. Each state has specific requirements for licensure applicants. Professional licensure requirements in West Virginia include adherence to state nursing laws and regulations.

Accreditation:

Laurel College of Technology is in the process of seeking accreditation through the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), an essential step towards formal accreditation review.

Program Advisory Committee:

Laurel has established a Program Advisory Committee to ensure that the curriculum remains aligned with current job market trends and employer needs. Any program changes are made with the approval of the Pennsylvania State Board of Private Licensed Schools and the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools & Colleges.
