Students learn tasks such as scheduling appointments, billing patients, and managing medical charts, reports, and correspondence. Coursework includes preparatory courses in word processing, along with medical courses covering Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Records Systems, Medical Office Procedures, Medical Law & Ethics, and Computerized Medical Billing. Graduates are prepared for roles such as Medical Office Assistant, Medical Secretary, Admission Coordinator, and Unit Secretary.

Credential Awarded:

Successful graduates receive an occupational Specialized Associate Degree.

To ensure the program's relevance and alignment with industry standards, Laurel holds annual Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings with individuals familiar with occupational requirements. Changes to the program are made in consultation with relevant authorities.
