Patient Care Technician Program

This program equips learners with technical skills essential for an entry-level position as a patient care technician. Key learning areas are:

• Personal care: You'll gain skills necessary to administer care to complex patients.

• Implementation of care plans: Learn to deliver selected portions of care plans under the supervision of registered nurses. This includes respiratory and rehabilitation services.

• EKG and Phlebotomy: These important skills will be part of your training.

• National Certification: On successful completion of the course, you'll be eligible for National Certification through the National Health Career Association (NHA).

In addition to these, you'll be introduced to basic cardiovascular terminology, anatomy, and physiology. You'll also focus on the accurate placement of electrocardiogram (EKG) leads and maintenance of equipment. The program prepares you to recognize cardiac arrhythmias, outlines responsibilities of ECG/EKG technicians, and offers clinical laboratory opportunities to develop entry-level skills.
